Gone Country

I know the image country music (and it's fans) has -- hick, redneck, cheesy, twangy...

But I've just re-discovered it and I love it! I don't know if it has changed or I have. (Probably a little of both.) In terms of background, I'm certainly not the stereotypical country music fan.

But as Trace Adkins says in his country song:

cause it's songs about me
and who I am
songs about loving and living
and good hearted women
and family and God

It all started with a CD Sophie brought home from school, containing her reading group members favorite songs. Pretty typical 5th-grade stuff: Greenday, High School Musical... And then this this gal came on, singing Our Song: http://www.last.fm/music/Taylor+Swift/_/Our+Song

It was so happy and fresh sounding, so not-over-produced... I fell in love with it, and it was all downhill (uphill?) from there.

Now I'm listening to Rodney Atkins, Trace Adkins, Brad Paisley... And lovin' every minute of it!

My parents listened to a big stack of country albums every Sunday morning and the last few years, I'm drawn to the old country. Enjoy!
