I made the deadline -- but just barely. After taking a day off work to finish, I rushed to the post office 10 minutes before they closed -- only to discover that I had left the CD with a digital layout at home! So I over-nighted the CD the next day. I don't have high hopes of winning, but I do have 5 layouts that I love, so in that sense I am already a winner.
The week before the contest, the girls and I went to Denver to visit family. The girls had a great time with their cousins, and I got an in-depth education on refrigerators: My mom's refrigerator went out in the middle of the visit, so I got to help her shop for a new one.
Between refrigerator shopping a family reunions, we did manage to squeeze in a visit to Archivers, where my wonderful mom got me this adorable storage container as an early birthday present:

It's made by Plano, whose tackle boxes scrappers have been using to organize for years. Apparently they've realized what a great market scrappers are and decided to create organizers just for them.
And last but not least, I want to mention a special "One-in-48" class that Hillary Heidelberg is holding at NYCScraps:
One-in-48 Class
The class is to benefit Save the Children, a highly regarded children's charity. I've taken several of NYCScraps classes and can't recommend them highly enough. The One-in-48 class is fast-paced, but a lot of fun. With Hillary's sketches, half of the work is done for you, so completing a layout every 2 days isn't nearly as hard as it sounds! I'm doing a sample layout for one of the classes, so if you atend, I will see you there!
